Word Sus hits 10,000 active players

Eight months after launching Word Sus, we hit 10,000 active players. A quick look at how we got here and what it means for where we are going.

Word Sus hits 10,000 active players

Word Sus crossed 10,000 active players this month. We want to mark that milestone because it represents something we didn't know for certain when we started: that the game resonates with people beyond our immediate circles.

The growth has been almost entirely word of mouth. Friend groups that play together bring in new friend groups. The social deduction format is self-replicating: you can't play alone, so every player recruits others.

What surprised us most is the session length. Average sessions run significantly longer than we planned for. Players are spending more time in game than almost any benchmark we found for casual multiplayer.

10,000 active players changes what we can do. It validates the mobile investment we've been making, and it gives us a real community to test new features against. Category Clash's alpha launch next month will be our first real test of that.

Thank you to everyone playing. More to come.
